Who says they finance a used machine
On their own pages, Tata Capital says you can use a construction equipment loan to purchase or finance used equipment. Chola offers loans for new, used and refinance. IDFC FIRST Bank says it finances new and pre-used machines, including repurchase and refinance. Hinduja Leyland Finance names new and used equipment with repurchase and refinance. Shriram Finance says its loans can fund used or new equipment. J&K Bank and SBI refer to fresh or new equipment, so ask them directly.

Checked 12 October 2026 on each loan provider's own website. "Not published" means the loan provider does not show that figure on the page we checked. We never estimate one. A starting rate is the best case, not the rate you will necessarily be offered, and these loan providers publish no JCB-specific rate: the terms are for construction equipment in general, which includes backhoe loaders.
How a used machine is valued
The loan provider values the machine from its make, model, year, hours worked, condition and market price. A valuation report is often required, and Shriram Finance lists a valuation report or the RC among its used asset documents. The loan is set against that valuation or the price, whichever is lower, so a machine that needs repairs can come back with a smaller loan than you expected.
What to inspect before you buy
- Hour meter and its history. Compare the reading with the service record and the machine's age.
- Boom, arms and bucket pins. Look for play and weld repairs.
- Hydraulics. Leaks, slow response and noisy pumps are expensive.
- Engine and cooling. Cold start, smoke and coolant condition.
- Tyres and the undercarriage or axles. Wear shows how hard the machine worked.
- Papers. The RC, invoice, insurance and any hypothecation.
Risks specific to a used machine
Downtime is the biggest cost. A machine that stops for a week costs hire income and still owes its EMI. Repair costs fall on you, and the tenure on a used loan is usually shorter, so the EMI can be higher per rupee borrowed. A seller who is still paying a loan, or a machine with a pending hypothecation, can stop the whole purchase. Ask an independent mechanic to inspect the machine, and keep a repair reserve. The new vs used comparison has numbers.
Papers and transfer
Get the original RC, the sale deed or agreement, a no-dues proof from any earlier loan provider, and the insurance. The transfer and the loan provider's endorsement follow the steps in registration and hypothecation. For a private seller, read dealer, owner or auction first.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get a loan for a used JCB?
Several loan providers say they finance used equipment, including Tata Capital, Chola, Hinduja Leyland Finance, IDFC FIRST Bank and Shriram Finance. The loan provider values the machine and sets the loan against that.
Is the interest rate higher on a used JCB loan?
It can be, because an older machine is riskier for the loan provider. The loan providers on this page publish construction equipment rates without separating new and used, so ask for the rate for your machine.
How old a JCB can be financed?
None of the loan providers on this page publishes an age cap. Ask the loan provider for it in writing, with the hours limit if any.
Do I need a valuation report?
Often yes. Shriram Finance lists a valuation report or the RC among its used asset documents. The loan provider may appoint its own valuer.
Can I refinance a JCB I already own?
Tata Capital, Chola, Hinduja Leyland Finance and IDFC FIRST Bank mention refinance. The terms differ, so compare the fee and the rate with your current loan.
