Honda Bike Loan: EMI, Down Payment and Finance

By KhatuLoans Editorial Team, edited by Hemant Kumar · Figures checked · Information only, not a loan provider

Honda bikes and scooters sell from ₹66,000 to ₹44.3 lakh ex-showroom. With a 20% down payment, the cheapest model needs a loan of about ₹52,800, which at 12% over 3 years is an EMI of about ₹1,754. Honda has no own finance company, so loans come from banks and NBFCs.

Honda range and what it means for your loan

Activa and Shine buyers are often first-time borrowers, so the rate offered depends heavily on credit history. Honda has no captive loan provider, so dealers work with several banks and NBFCs.

Who finances Honda bikes and scooters

No captive NBFC in India - finance via partner banks/NBFCs at Honda dealerships. HMSI has signed retail-finance MoUs with loan providers such as IDFC FIRST Bank (2019), IndusInd Bank and Punjab National Bank (autocarpro.in / Business Standard reports). No current official partner list verified.

Dealer finance or your own bank? Dealer or brand finance is convenient and sometimes comes with offers, but the rate is not always the lowest. A bank where you already have an account may offer a pre-approved loan. Ask both for the Key Fact Statement and compare the APR and total repayable amount, not just the EMI.

Electric Honda models

Honda sells electric models including Activa e: (Rs 1.20 lakh), QC1 (Rs 0.91 lakh), QC3 (Rs 1.35 lakh). Some loan providers offer lower rates on electric models, so ask for the EV rate specifically. Compare the EMI plus charging cost against the EMI plus fuel cost of a petrol or diesel model.

Loan providers for a Honda bike or scooter

Tips before you finance a Honda

  • On small loans, flat processing fees and add-ons can matter more than the rate, so compare the total cost.
  • A 24 to 36 month tenure usually keeps both the EMI and the total interest low.
  • First-time borrowers can build a credit history with a two-wheeler loan, as long as every EMI is paid on time.
  • Check whether the dealer's "low down payment" scheme comes with a higher rate or fees.

Frequently asked questions

At about ₹66,000 ex-showroom, with 20% down and 12% over 3 years, the EMI is about ₹1,754. Your rate and on-road price will change this.

Does Honda have its own finance company?

No captive loan provider. HMSI has signed retail-finance MoUs with loan providers such as IDFC FIRST Bank, IndusInd Bank and Punjab National Bank (autocarpro. You can also borrow from any bank or NBFC.

How much down payment do I need for a Honda?

Many loan providers fund 80% to 100% of the on-road price, but a 15% to 20% down payment lowers the EMI and total interest. Check the funding limit with your loan provider.

Is dealer finance cheaper than a bank loan for a Honda?

Not always. Dealer schemes can be convenient and sometimes discounted, but compare the APR and total repayable amount in the Key Fact Statement with a bank's offer.

Which loan provider is best for a Honda?

There is no single best loan provider; it depends on your credit score, income and the model. Public sector banks often publish the lowest starting rates, while NBFCs may approve profiles banks decline.
